The Lady Tigers basketball team is leaving from Wharton HS today at 2:00 to head to the Regional Tournament in Kingsville. They will leave from the student parking lot in front of the old gym/cafeteria!! They will leave WHS and travel down the road next to the practice football field towards Pizza Hut and then down Fulton Ave. in front of the Admin building!! 

Due to weather, the Varsity baseball tournament for TONIGHT in Hitchcock has been cancelled.  As of right now, this is for THURSDAY ONLY.

 Wharton High School ELA department has been utilizing their two new Chromebook carts to teach students how to write research papers using their Google Drive. Check out the video to learn how they have enhanced learning at WHS.

What's Happening at WISD
  • Who needs a picnic table? Spring is coming soon.

  • Mr. Zuniga's Ag Mechanics class is building a Picnic table for the Wharton Fair Fund Live Auction. Come have some good food, live Auction and Dancing. Come out and support our Wharton FFA & 4-H students.

  • Welding Students practicing work in the field in Mr. Zuniga class.

  • Jeffery Blair representing the Gulf Coast Medical Foundation for their donation of $14,000 to assist our Health Science Program and replace damaged equipment lost due to flooding.

  • Abby King and Michael Limas representing TEAM Wharton. Their efforts resulted in generous donations that resulted in over $90,000 that is being used to replace damaged supplies and equipment that were lost as a result of the flooding at Wharton High School.

  • Abby King is representing the Mary Louise Dobson Foundation and their generous donation that is assisting in funding the salary for a part-time career counselor at Wharton High School.

  • Rosemary Rust, A.C. Shelton and Jeffrey Blair are representing the Barbara and Walter Young Foundation presented Wharton ISD $43,000 to fund innovative teaching grants that are providing meaningful materials and experiences for our students in a variety of instructional areas. Missing from the photo is Jim Bouligny.

  • Congratulations to the following Wharton High School Choir Students for their participation in the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest: Emma Grosser - Superior (advancing to state competition), Tanner Mata - Excellent, Cortney Whatley - Superior (advancing to state competition), Caroline Williams - Superior (advancing to state competition)

Awesome, Fantastic, Desire to win and playing with Heart!! That's what our Lady Tigers & our Runnin' Tigers Basketball Teams had as they won their exciting games.

Our Lady Tigers defeated Columbus 57-52 in overtime last night and are REGIONALS BOUND for the 2nd year in a row! Their next match-up will be Friday night against Aransas Pass at 8pm.The game will take place at the Steinke Physical Education Center located at 910 W. Avenue B, Kingsville, TX 78363.Wharton is the home team. Come out and support our Tigers to Victory!

Our Runnin' Tigers are now BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONS after defeating Royal last night 69-65 and will advance to Area. Their next match-up will be played on Friday night against Boerne at 8pm. The game will take place at Cuero High School, located at 920 E Broadway St, Cuero, TX 77954.

  • Congratulations Sheila Taylor, Director of WHS Tiger Stars Drill Team for directing the WHS Tiger Stars Drill Team for 25 years at the Marching Auxiliaries Dance Camp at Blinn College and bringing home the Grand Champion trophy for all 25 years.

  • Congratulations Keith Magee and Bill Wallace of the Wharton Journal Spectator for their balanced reporting of Wharton ISD news and events and recipients of the 2017 TASB Media Honor Roll

  • Congratulations to the WHS Tiger Stars Drill Team for earning the Grand Champion trophy and numerous other honors at the Marching Auxiliaries Dance Camp at Blinn College

  • Mrs. Smith at WJH uses live animals to engage and teach her students real world lessons.

  • WJH Science team meets with Mrs. Brown to discuss how they can best meet the needs of WISD students.

  • HEB has partnered with Sivells and came over to do a presentation on "Be a Buddy not a Bully". Thank you HEB!
