Roben Eller
Coach Eller graduated from Calallen High School in 1983, where she played varsity tennis from 1979 to 1983. She then played for Wharton County Junior College from 1983-1985, where the team qualified for the national tournament in 1985. Coach Eller played at Sam Houston State University from 1985 to 1987 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught English and was her first year's assistant coach at Corpus Christi Miller High School. Then Coach Eller became the head tennis coach at Wharton High School and taught English for 32 years. She retired in 20201 and has returned to Wharton to just coach tennis part-time.
In her 32 years of coaching, the tennis team has experienced great success. The team has won 24 Girls' District Team Championships and 20 Boys District Team Championships. Wharton has also qualified 47 individual players for the UIL state championships.
Coach Eller has been the TTCA Coach of the year, the NFHS Girls' State Coach of the year, and the Region 3 Coach of the Year. In 2018, Coach Eller was inducted into the Texas Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.
