Sonya Sonia

Director of Special Education 

Mrs. Sonya Sonia was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She has an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Loyola University of New Orleans and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from The University of New Orleans.  She relocated to Texas after Hurricane Katrina She is certified in the General Education (EC-6), Special Education (EC-12), Principal (EC-12) and Educational Diagnostician in the State of Texas. She started her teaching career in New Orleans as an Elementary Teacher and quickly advanced to the ranks of principal at the Elementary and Middle School Levels. In Texas, she has held various administrative roles as a Middle School Principal, High School Principal, Accountability Officer, Special Education Coordinator, High School Special Education Teacher Supervisor and Director of Special Education. Her philosophy of education is that all children can learn when given the proper supports to help them access education. She is the wife of Donald Sonia and mother of two adult children, Dr. Sydnie Williams and Royce Williams.
