Assistant Principals

  • Mrs. Grissom received her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Elementary Education and Middle School Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1985. She taught for 10 years in Colorado and then had the opportunity to stay home with her daughters for several years while she tutored. She obtained her Masters of Education in 1994 and her Texas Principal certificate in 2016.

When her family moved to Wharton, 17 years ago, she began teaching again in the third grade at Sivells. She moved to Wharton Elementary when the building was built, and taught fourth grade there. In addition to teaching, she was the Gifted/Talented teacher and Coordinator as well as an Assistant Principal. She is very excited to be back at Sivells where the learning journey begins!

  • Howdy Tiger Nation!  I am Amalia Villarreal and I am excited to serve as an assistant principal at Sivells Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year!  This is my 11th year in education.  I began my career as an educator here, at Sivells, in the PreK classroom.  I have also served in the kinder and 2nd grade bilingual classrooms.

I was raised here in Wharton County and am happy to be back serving our Tiger Nation!  I graduated with my bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2009.  I earned my master's degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University in 2019.  During my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting, and spending time with my family.
¡Hola Tiger Nation!
