Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to 3rd grade!

This is my 9th year teaching here in Wharton ISD. I graduated with my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies from UHV. In my free time I enjoy baking, going to the beach, and spending time with my family.

Third grade is an exciting time as children come upon new adventures in  learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as gaining new skills. I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning.  So many things happen in Third Grade! In fact, this year will be full of important transitions. It is tremendously important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our third grade. Here are some ways you can help: Celebrate your child’s success, no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work!  Read to and with your child every day, if possible. The more your child is exposed to language, the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.

I am looking forward to working with your child this year, and helping him/her to achieve his/her full potential.

Parent/Teacher Communication

I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through ClassDojo, emails, telephone call/texts, progress reports/report cards and parent-teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at school (979)532-6882, or email me at If you haven’t already done so, please join your child’s class on ClassDojo.

Daily/Tiger folder and planner

    • There will be a green daily folder sent home each day. Any papers placed on the left side of the opened folder should be “left” at home and any papers on the right side should come “right” back to me.
  • Planners will be filled daily with important reminders, homework, tests, and upcoming events.  Please take the time each day to review your child’s planner and sign it as needed (if there is a note from the teacher written in it).  Also, planners are a great way to communicate with each other, so feel free to write me a little note as needed.
  • Finally, your child will take home a red ROAR folder each Thursday with graded papers and their weekly behavior sheet. Please sign the weekly behavior sheet along with am\y other papers requiring a parent signature and send back with your child the next day. All other papers on the stay home side can be kept at home.

Homework is given on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week (students are expected to read 20 minutes and study their math facts every night). This is a great time for you as a parent/guardian to go over important skills with your child.  Please note that all homework is considered extra practice and covers concepts already covered in class.

Again, I look forward to teaching your child and working with you to help your child achieve their fullest potential. Please don’t hesitate to contact me.
