Mrs. Ashley Ivy

My name is Ashley Ivy and I am the current Math and Science Facilitator at Wharton Elementary School. This is my seventh year in education with all my years at WES. This will be my third year in my current position. Previously, I have taught two years as a 6th grade math teacher as well as 2 years as a 4th grade math and science teacher. I am extremely passionate in students finding their passion and being able to pursue it once they graduate from Wharton ISD.

If you have ever visited before, you have seen my introduction, which usually is the greeting to my page year-round. As we moved over to this new website, I read through the words I wrote what seems like so long ago. I have never felt the words to be more true than what they are today. So in that instance, please read and enjoy:

First off, let me tell you how truly blessed I am to be able to assist your child in their growth and learning this year. I believe and know that we will have an amazing year together. Like you, I have hopes and dreams for every student that crossed our school's doorway. If our students take away anything from our school this year, may it be these three concepts:
 - A day will never go by in a person's life where he or she will not learn at least one new thing. My hope is that our students realize that they are life-long learners. Hopefully instilling this perception will assist them in developing into an adult and drive them to become everything they want to be in life and much more.
 - This world would be a different place if questions were never asked and mistakes never made. If previous generations never questioned the world and its possibilities, we would not be in the place where we are today. Every technological advance, every change ever made was because of someone questioning its existence. (With these questions, will come trials, and with trials will come mistakes. It is what we learn from our mistakes that we can receive great knowledge.)
 - Lastly, and probably most importantly, to be a life-long learner and to be an inquisitor, our students need to realize that they truly hold the key to their life. It is THEIR mind, THEIR determination, and THEIR imagination that truly matters.

Like Dr. Seuss states, "Oh the things you can think, if YOU only try," and how true that statement really is.

Again, I am excited to be one of your child's educator this year and cannot wait to create memories together!
